Montano grundades 1962 i en källarlokal på Allmänna vägen 16 i Göteborg av Ilie Munteanu. Företagets kärnverksamhet utgjordes till en början av egen tillverkning av byggnads- & konstsmiden. Idag, över 50 år senare drivs AB Montano av Ilies son Tommy Munteanu med familj.
