With more than 40 years experience in property and construction, since 2011 the Directors of ABI Piers Ltd have project managed commercial and residential earthquake repairs and rebuilds in Christchurch.
Large commercial buildings have expensive base isolation systems to protect them from earthquake damage, but no cost effective system existed to protect smaller, lightweight buildings like houses and school classrooms.
The Adjustable Base Isolation Pier System (ABI Pier system) was developed to fill that gap in the marketplace, and minimise damage to lightweight buildings from lateral earth movements during earthquake events.
