Our Name And Our Purpose:
Ability Action is a Not-For-Profit, Australian National Charity that is registered and regulated by The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).
Ability Action through it's arm supports the "Ability Wanders". A term we phrased to turn "Dis-Ability" into "Ability" and "Wanderers" to help get them out and about and into activities that drive learning new skills, interacting with others and to promote social inclusion.
A number of the Directors have adult children with disabilities and had seen the distinct lack of community support and resources particularly to promote social interaction and in growing and learning new skills while doing so.
Along with supporting individuals with a disability, our primary drive is to provide support to family and carers of this cohort as it can also be socially isolating for those caring for their loved ones. In providing this support we aim to promote and provide an outlet for people that can assist with their mental well being (both those with a disability and their carers).
Our Mission:
We are reducing social isolation by creating community inclusion where people with disabilities have the freedom to discover their abilities and create opportunities with acceptance.
We offer Memberships for both support and as a way of supporting us.
We also gratefully accept donations, with anything over $2.00 being Tax Deductible in Australia.
