Abrasive Flow Solutions (AFS) is a proudly South African company that specializes in the design and manufacture of high-performance slurry-related valves. Since opening its doors on 1 September 2020, AFS has become a trusted name in the industry, known for its innovation, reliability, and commitment to quality.
AFS was established to expand fluid technology services through the launch of an in-house manufacturing facility, strengthening its position in the valves sector across the African continent. This move not only ensures greater control over quality and lead times but also broadens our reach to a wider customer base, unlocking new markets and application opportunities.
Our locally manufactured valve range includes Klep diaphragm valves, wedge gate valves, pinch valves, knife gate valves, and non-return valves – all engineered to perform under the toughest conditions. These products are particularly well-suited for demanding applications in mining, chemical and petrochemical, water and wastewater, and energy production.
The AFS team brings decades of experience in slurry valve solutions, with deep expertise in Klep diaphragm and wedge gate valves. Our specialists set their first major challenge early on: to improve the quality and durability of diaphragm valves by extending service life and reducing maintenance requirements. This goal is being achieved through the application of the latest advancements in design technologies, materials, and coatings.
In August 2024, seasoned industry leader Gavin Mark Pelser acquired a 51% stake in AFS and took on the role of CEO. With over 40 years of engineering and leadership experience, Gavin brings a bold vision for the future of AFS – one that focuses on innovation, customer-centric solutions, and global competitiveness.
