About ACC Continuing Education Translation and Interpreting Certificate Program
With a rapidly growing Spanish-speaking population, Austin is quickly becoming a center of business and cultural diversity. Austin Community College is proud to offer an Online Translation and Interpreting certificate to students eager to set themselves apart in the fast-growing market for translators and interpreters in Central Texas. ACC’s Online English<>Spanish Translation and Interpreting Certificate Program is a 90 hour (three semesters) non-credit, continuing education program open to all students, with no college entrance requirement. Students who are fluent in English and Spanish are asked to demonstrate their fluency through a short oral and written assessment administered by an instructor. The program offers three different tracks: Translation, Medical/ Community Interpreting and Legal/Court Interpreting. The Translation and Interpreting Program prepares students to pass American Translators Association ATA Certification exam, the Texas Judicial Branch Certification Commission JBCC Court Interpreter exam, the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters NBCHI, or the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters CCHI examinations.
