By the provisions of the Technical University Act 2016 (Act 922) as amended, the University is mandated to provide higher education in engineering, science, and technology-based disciplines, technical and vocational education and training applied arts and related disciplines in accordance with the following principles:
1. Higher education shall be made equally accessible to all persons suitably qualified and capable of benefiting from education and training offered at a technical university;
2. Programmes of study shall take into consideration the multiplicity of scientific theories and methodologies;
3. Use competency-based and practice-oriented approaches in teaching, organization, and delivery of courses;
4. Develop strong linkages and collaboration with relevant industries, businesses, professional bodies, and technical experts in the delivery of programs;
5. Offer programs and courses within the mandate of a technical university; and
6. Provide opportunities for skills development applied research and publication of research findings.
