Farmers living in remote places need support in more than one area. We provide a complete set of services within a walking distance of the farmers we serve. Our service bundle includes:
1) Financing for their farm implements
2) Distribution of seeds and inputs (e.g., fertilizer)
3) Training on agricultural techniques (good agricultural practices)
4) Market facilitation to maximize profit from harvest sales.
Here’s how our model works:
1. Asset-Based Loans. Farmers receive high-quality seeds and fertilizer on credit, and we offer a flexible repayment system that allows them to pay back their loans in any amount throughout the loan term.
2. Delivery. We deliver inputs to locations within walking distance of every farmer we serve.
3. Training. Farmers receive training throughout the season on modern agricultural techniques.
4. Market Facilitation. We offer crop storage solutions and teach farmers about market fluctuations, so that they can time crop sales to maximize profits.
Every link in this chain is important—if one is missing, then the others won’t have as much impact. ACDEV provides all of these services together, enabling farmers to significantly increase their incomes and build paths to prosperity.
How We Grow
When ACDEV was founded in 2016, we began with a pilot group of 38 farmers in KORANIA in the kassena Nankana Municipal, Navrongo in the Upper East Region. In March 2020, We have over 5000 farmer groups!
ACDEV has a revenue-generating operating model: About 80 percent of our field expenses are financed through farmer loan repayments. Improving financial sustainability is a key component of our expansion strategy. We want to grow quickly, but we know that outside funding may not always keep pace. Technology is one way we’re boosting our efficiency.
