WELCOME TO OUR HOUSE. TOGETHER, WE ARE STRONGER. Aconchego House is an award-winning safe haven for the Queer community and anyone who feels unseen, misunderstood, or oppressed. Our mission is to empower people of every sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, and background by fostering a space where everyone belongs. Here, we help you connect, cowork, and care for each other in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Founded during Pride Month 2024, Aconchego House opened its doors on Lisbon’s Rua de São Sebastião de Pedreira. Co-founders Tomás Drouin, a trans man inspired by his own journey, and Rey Tuplano, an expert in business incubation and community building, joined forces to create a sanctuary for Portugal’s LGBTQIA+ community. Their vision blends personal passion with strategic expertise, offering not just a haven but a platform for growth through mentorship, resources, and community support. Why “Aconchego”? This Portuguese word embodies “shelter,” “safety,” “coziness,” and “caring”—the essence of what we strive to provide. Our logo reflects connection: eight acronyms of the LGBTQIA+ community converge, inspired by the Noble Eightfold Path, symbolizing unity and empowerment. From art exhibitions to entrepreneurial incubation, Aconchego House is here to help our community thrive, offering tools and education to build confidence and integration in society. Lisbon’s Aconchego House is just the beginning. We dream of expanding worldwide, where every location offers the same sense of belonging and pride, ensuring everyone feels like part of the family.
