About Active Bleeding Control (ABC)
Active Bleeding Control (ABC) Guru is a program to empower school children and their families by training to stop the bleed in life-threatening injuries. Every 3-4 minutes, one precious life is lost to Road Traffic Injury (RTI), and almost 40% die of uncontrolled bleeding. These deaths can be prevented by time-critical early intervention by trained citizens during the first few minutes of injury before the ambulance arrives. ABC pilot program for adult bystanders in Hyderabad, India, has saved more than 160 lives by training more than 1000 public (auto-rickshaw drivers, shopkeepers, and police). Now this project has been ABC is a collaborative program involving Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Pediatric Simulation Training and Research Society (PediSTARS) India, University of Pennsylvania Institute for the Advanced Study of India (UPIASI), GVK EMRI, Road Safety Club Hyderabad, India, Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and Indian Development Foundation (IDF) India.
