Active Minds at University of Michigan-Dearborn

Active Minds at University of Michigan-Dearborn is an official chapter of Active Minds, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising mental health awareness among college students, via peer-to-peer dialogue and interaction. We aim to start conversation about mental health, de-stigmatize mental health topics, plan campus events to spread awareness about mental health, and discuss mental health in various cultures. We also aim to fight for and organize around local & national policy change, fundraise for mental health, and promote healthy lifestyle choices to the UM-Dearborn student body and local community. We aim to carry out our efforts and initiatives through a political-conscious and intersectional framework that promotes accessibility, safety, and inclusivity for all. Through collaborating with on-campus offices, such as Counseling and Psychological Services, we aim to educate students on mental health resources and encourage help-seeking behavior. Our student-led organization combines advocacy, education, and fundraising to improve our campus culture, and to inspire young leaders to advance mental health efforts in various capacities, in college and beyond.
