ADDYX srl is an innovative start-up in the field of composite materials. Our missions is the smart integration of additive manufacturing in the composite industry. Our mindset is R&D oriented, exploring, inventing and testing new design and manufacturing solutions for the components of the future. Our first product is a patented water soluble expanding mandrel, made out of an innovative 3D printable polymer. Our mandrel is ideal for the production of hollow complex composite components. Being sufficiently stiff at RT it allows prepreg lay-up directly on it (lamination on the male mandrel). Mould closing becomes an easy and quick operation with our innovative mandrel, which then behaves like a classical internal bag during the curing cycle; it expands and give the desirable pressure to the laminate. Finally, being water soluble, the mandrel is washed out using tap water. The whole process is fully tested and reliable, dramatically reducing the scrap rate. Also, it is much faster than the traditional process with better mechanical properties of the final component. We are fully able to design and produce the water soluble mandrels in-house, and develop a tailored process for customers components and materials. We have invested in large volume additive manufacturing machines, up to 1000x1000 mm being able to produce mandrels even for the largest components. Furthermore, we are able to design and produce moulds for composites prototypes more efficiently and quickly than traditional processes. Long-life and high temperature moulds are also available.
