Die Firma adhoc wurde 1986 als technisches Büro gegründet. In den darauf folgenden Jahren erweiterte sich das Tätigkeitsfeld von Beratungs- und Gutachter Dienstleistungen, hin zur Entwicklung und Produktion elektronischer Systeme und Anlagen. Durch den technischen Fortschritt wurde die Entwicklung von Software für diese Systeme immer wichtiger und ist in der Zwischenzeit eine der Kernkompetenzen des Unternehmens.
Aufgrund der fortlaufend steigenden Anzahl an Projekten und Mitarbeitern, erfolgte 1995 der Umzug in ein eigenes Firmengebäude im Industriering in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee.
