In order to abide by the New York City law, building owners must follow these maintenance procedures: • Routine monitoring of the cooling towers-whomever is checking the towers must have proper knowledge and be qualified to do so • A compliance inspection once every 3 months while the cooling tower system is operating • Routine maintenance and replacement if needed • Cleaning on the cooling tower systems- they must be cleaned during the routine maintenance, but at least twice a year • Monitoring of the cooling tower systems to ensure the smallest amount of aerosols and mist are formed and released. Since August of 2015, New York City and New York State created new requirements that all building owners must follow regarding their cooling towers. At ADK Water Solutions, we have experts trained to operate in accordance to both the city and state requirements. All New York City cooling towers must be registered, inspected, and cleaned each year. On top of the annual cleaning and inspections, there have been rules set in place that require building owners to implement a long-term maintenance procedure for the cooling towers. Within New York State, the requirements do differ slightly from the City laws, however the requirements do have a lot of similarities.
