Aegeanweb by Egista Community

It's early days. Aegeanweb, a discovery/travel/community website is currently incubated by the Parosweb team and is looking for stakeholders in the Islands. Aegeanweb is developed on an open source platform. We want technology that we own and control, not technology owned and controlled by big corporations. We believe that people who make things and people who use them should be in partnership, in full transparency. We want users to have control of their personal data, not be themselves the product that’s bought and sold to advertisers. We want to promote our islands in the most authentic way, to make available local knowledge and frequent visitors’ experience. We believe in collaborations, in audacity, in beauty, in transparency, in simplicity, in design. We believe a social network can be a tool for empowerment, a place to create and celebrate life. We will try to raise awareness on the many issues encountered in the Greek Islands and in tourism and will advise visitors, the civil society, companies, policy makers and educators. Mostly, we want to protect our freedoms and democracy in the new digital age and we want to preserve the quality of life found in our Islands and share it with our visitors.
