AEGEE (Association des États Généraux des Étudiants de l’Europe / European Students’ Forum) is one of Europe’s largest interdisciplinary youth organisations. As a non-governmental, politically independent, and non-profit organisation AEGEE is open to students and young people from all faculties and disciplines. Founded in 1985 in Paris, today AEGEE has grown to a Network of 13,000 friends, present in 200 cities in 40 countries all over geographical Europe.
AEGEE puts the idea of a unified Europe into practice. Operating without a national level, AEGEE brings its 13,000 members from 40 different countries directly in touch with each other.
Several hundred conferences, training and cultural events are organised across the Network every year, and AEGEE also campaigns and lobbies for the interests of European youth.
The volunteering skills, dedication, passion and hard work provide members a competitive advantage in the job market, increasing their employability. In addition, members are settled in a multicultural and multilingual environment which allow them to become citizens of Europe and the World.
AEGEE-Debrecen was founded in 1991. As one of the older local branches of the 200 ones in the Network, thousands of unique non-formal educational and informal learning-based opportunities have been provided to several hundreds of youngsters since the local association's establishment.
Upon request of representative members, AEGEE-Debrecen's AEGEE / European Students' Forum member organisation status has been entirely deleted by the international general assembly of the AEGEE Network on the 7th of June, 2020. Consequently, AEGEE ceased its operating in Debrecen.
