Advancement of Equality, Gender & Inclusion Studies (AEGIS)

The AEGIS Centre (Advancement of Equality, Gender, and Inclusion Studies) is a pioneering research hub at the University of Portsmouth, dedicated to tackling global challenges in gender and social injustice. Launched during Refugee Week 2024, the Centre is committed to driving inclusivity, diversity, and equality through innovative research and impactful partnerships. At the heart of AEGIS is a global community of scholars, policymakers, and practitioners collaborating to generate solutions for gender and social inequalities. The Centre focuses on four key research areas: equality law, social and legal inequalities, violence against women and girls, and gender and the economy. With a diverse faculty and over 50 global members, AEGIS is advancing research across all career levels while promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. By fostering synergies with academic institutions, policymakers, and civil society organisations, AEGIS aims to influence legal and social norms worldwide. The Centre offers exciting opportunities for students through internships, live case studies, and a global perspective, supporting the University's mission to become a leader in digital education on equality and non-discrimination.
