AEP Precision Engineering

AEP Precision Engineering began trading in 1984 with Director Peter Woolford at the helm. During his expansive time managing AEP, Peter secured several customers that still remain with us to this day. In 1990, an alliance between AEP and Smith Metal Fabrications was formed when SMF secured a major contract for medical equipment which required a significant variation of machined components. This partnership, along with its highly skilled staff, has been able to offer customers a unique and wide range of services not commonly found under one roof. In 2016, Smith Metal Fabrications purchased AEP from Peter Woolford. Two highly experienced engineers were employed to take the SMF / AEP partnership forward. With over 35 years experience between them, they have worked with an array of materials in a wide variety of industries including automotive, medical and MOD. In 2020, despite the global pandemic, AEP’s expansion continued with the purchase of a new Doosan DNM 5700 vertical mill. With speeds of up to 12,000 rpm and a tool change speed as low as 1.2 seconds, it allows competitive pricing while maintaining the high quality finish our customers are used to. Looking to the future, AEP hope to continue investing in the latest equipment but also intend to continue providing exceptional customer service.
