Aether & Hemera

Aether & Hemera is a multi-disciplinary art and design studio operating at the intersection of contemporary installation, lighting art, and interaction design—blending creativity, technology, and research. Named after the ancient Greek god and goddess of the brighter upper air and daylight, Aether & Hemera was founded in 2008 by Gloria Ronchi. The studio harnesses technology as a tool for experimentation, pushing the boundaries of visual, light, sound, and interactive design. Their projects span from concept development to prototyping and implementation, integrating creative software and hardware solutions. Through immersive experiences, Aether & Hemera aims to evoke memories, spark aesthetic interactions, and foster human connection. Their installations and lighting sculptures have been exhibited worldwide at prestigious events and locations, including Canary Wharf (UK), Vivid Sydney (AU), Amsterdam Light Festival (NL), Enlighten Canberra (AUS), Light City Baltimore (USA), Jerusalem Light Festival (IS), Dubai Emaar Art (UAE), La Défense Paris (FR), and many more. The studio has received grants and commissions from leading institutions such as Arts Council England, Newcastle upon Tyne Council, Scottsdale Arts, Emaar Public Art, Light Art Collection, and others. Aether & Hemera's contributions to the field have been recognized with nominations and awards, including the Lighting Design Awards, DARC Awards, Aesthetica Prize, and Official Raspberry Pi Magazine Winner. Guided by curiosity and innovation, the studio continues to explore new frontiers in art, design, and technology—creating works that invite audiences to participate, reflect, and connect.
