This association created 35 years ago by Law specialists : Professors, Attorneys, Lawyers and Magistrates is dedicated to studying legal issues in IT Law, to organize conferences and give consultation. AFDIT has over the years developped its reputation as a non-profit society, present on many forums, both nationaly and internationaly, where legal issues are scrutinized by distinguished experts. Its working groups are active and open to other colleagues of all backgrounds (universities, judiciary, law practice, research...) and have set as an objective to regularly publish the results of their work, mainly through public events, conferences, white papers etc.
AFDIT is one of the organizations who have founded in 1990 the International Federation of Computer Law Associations (IFCLA), along with the Dutch, Belgian, German and UK Societies. Since then, other Country associations have joined IFCLA which counts now up to 15 Countries. IFCLA convene its Congress every two years. The last Congress have taken place in Paris (2000), Berlin (2002), Oxford (2004), Amsterdam (2006), Paris (2008), Helsinki (2010). Its 2012 Congress is to take place on June 20-22, in Munich.
