Afghanistan VIS Alumni Network - AVAN

Afghanistan VIS Alumni Network (AVAN) aims to provide educational experience for students all over Afghanistan and to prepare Afghan students for the Pre-moot and actual Vis Moot competitions. This happens through many phases of training, regular sessions and national competitions. The Moot is intended to stimulate the study of International Commercial Law, especially the legal texts prepared by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), and the use of International Commercial Arbitration to resolve international commercial disputes. The Vis Moot is an educational tool for arbitrators, judges, lawyers, professors, and law students to foster the study and practice of International Commercial and Arbitration Laws and encourage the resolution of business disputes by arbitration. The U.S. Department of Commerce, Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) is sponsoring several teams from Afghanistan for a series of training sessions and participation in the international Vis Moot competition.
