AFKAR Holding Company

The Company: ''AFKAR'' is a Kuwaiti Shareholding Company that was established in April 2006 with an issued capital of KWD 30 million (USD 106 million) and paid up capital of KWD 15.5 million (USD 54.7 million). ''Afkar'' was incorporated in accordance with the Kuwait Commercial Companies Law and is regulated by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. 1 Line of Business: ''Afkar's'' business activities as a holding company focus on the ownership and the overall management of a variety of strategic investments in the petrochemicals, industrial and services sectors in GCC countries, India, the Middle East, Turkey and the Far East, in compliance with Islamic Shariah ''Afkar'' specializes in the acquisition of stakes in new and existing companies in Kuwait and/or outside Kuwait and participating in the establishment of, lending to, providing guarantees to, and management of these companies, in addition to acting as a guarantor for these companies. Moreover, the ownership of industrial equities such as patents, industrial trademarks, royalties, or any other related rights, and leasing or franchising them to other companies or using them within or outside the State of Kuwait. Current Investment Portfolio: ''Afkar'' has managed to enter into many promising investments. In Kuwait, for example, it has an investment in the food processing sector. In Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, it has in the food processing, petrochemical products and metals, and industrial cities development. As for China, it has an arm in the construction material sector (cement), in addition to the participation in a fund which has an investment focus in Asia Pacific region and already has some investments in China, Malaysia, India and Singapore.
