About AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT AND EMERGENCY ORGANISATION - ADEO

African Development and Emergency Organization (ADEO) is a local Non-Governmental organization registered in Kenya in 1999. It’s headquarter is in Nairobi. ADEO has demonstrated ability to successfully implement major research, relief and development programs in the sectors of health, education and advocacy for the last 20 years as an implementing partner of Globalfund, United Nations, European Union, USAID/FHI, USAID/PATH, NACC, private funding institutions, other donors and Governments of Kenya, Somalia, Southern Sudan, Uganda and Sierra Leone. ADEO’s vision is a fair, healthy, and informed society while its mission is to improve the quality of life of the vulnerable and disadvantaged in society through promotion of community empowerment and equity in Africa. ADEO’s top management consists of two entities - the Board of directors and the secretariat which headed by the Executive Director. ADEO’s board is responsible for policy, operational documents development and approval, overseeing the activities of the secretariat including hire of management staff, approves organizational budgets and financial reports. Board members champion the NGO's cause, and represent the NGO to the larger community. They also assist in helping to raise funds for projects. The Executive Director is also the Secretary of the board and reports to the Board. It is ADEO's policy to employ community based development strategies where existing community structures, e.g., women groups, youth groups, and locally acceptable methods for mobilization are the starting point for action. Our approach is to recognize and improve on what is existing, thereby promoting local organizational capacity, which communities require to recognize, to be able to solve their own problems.
