About Afrikala Art

Afrikala Art operates at the intersection of creativity and social impact, using art as a tool for empowerment, advocacy & mental well-being. Based in Kenya, we work primarily in low and lower-middle-income communities. Afrikala Art is a creative haven where art & talent meet appreciation & empowerment. We envision a world where mental health is prioritised, creativity is nurtured, and young people thrive economically through sustainable opportunities. Our mission is to harness the power of creativity to drive social change by promoting mental health awareness, empowering young people with essential information, tools and support while fostering resilience through strategic partnerships, advocacy, and safe spaces. Why Mental Health Matters: Mental health requires attention because it impacts every facet of our lives. Mental health is not just about addressing mental illnesses; it's about promoting overall well-being, self-care and creating supportive environments. Afrikala Art aims to: 1. Break the stigma surrounding mental health issues. 2. Encourage open conversations to foster understanding. 3. Provide information, resources and support for mental health challenges. 4. Promote holistic well-being through creative expression and engagement. Our activities serve as a bridge, connecting partners with our mission to create a world where mental health is a priority and creativity thrives. Art Therapy is our main programme embedded into all other programmes. We conduct other mental health and social justice programs, including Mental Health for SRH and Mental Health Sports Tournaments, advocating for good mental well-being in under-resourced and marginalised, low and lower-middle-income communities. Additionally, we host an annual Advocacy Mental Walk Programme on Mental Health Day to raise awareness about mental and physical well-being among the general public.
