Agreenco Bioenergy is a market leader in the fields of land remediation and clean energy. Mining companies, globally, are subjected to operational and environmental cost pressure relating to, increased energy costs and mounting pressure over reducing and off-setting environmental impacts such as carbon footprint and unproductive land. They often work in remote locations where logistics are challenging and costly, and positive, local community engagement is essential but difficult. The AB model is innovative and simple and solves two serious problems for the mine, pollution and energy security, in an efficient and cost-effective way. In addition, it leaves a positive legacy for the local communities, rather than the unproductive polluted land and unemployment - usually associated with mine closures. This world-leading and innovative application of tried and tested technologies by Agreenco BioEnergy was first implemented at the Harmony Bioenergy Project in Welkom, South Africa. AB has now been commissioned by Anglo Gold Ashanti to plan and develop a much bigger project at their MWS plant, near Klerksdorp and Anglo is potentially interested in doing the same at all of their mines. AB has also been commissioned to produce a feasibility study for South 32 for the production of Biofuel from crops grown on mine rehabilitated land. This Biofuel would replace fossil fuel in their vehicle fleets and could also be rolled out at all of their mines. In addition, AB is developing a hybrid biogas/biomass plant in the Eastern Cape to supply energy and bio-CNG to Mercedes-Benz and VW for their car assembly plants.
