As an industrial startup of the Proinsener Group, we are revolutionising the way controlled environment farming is done. Our focus is on the development of modular vertical farming systems and innovation in controlled environment agriculture (CEA), both in modules and 4th generation greenhouses. We face the challenge of optimising energy consumption, which has been the main obstacle for many companies in recent years. To address this problem, we are devoting our efforts to the application of photonics, such as wavelength photoconversion, nanomaterial filters and electronic shading. Our goal is to efficiently use solar radiation, an important source of energy in Spain, to achieve growing cycles with realistic operating costs and capital costs (capex) similar to 4th generation greenhouses. At Agricube, we not only focus on technology and innovation, but we are also interested in the big picture of vertical farming in Europe, the United States and Asia. We explore the pros and cons of indoor farming systems, visualise our 5-year projects, assess the impact and opportunities in Spain, and consider the importance of urban gardens and the incorporation of a new generation of young farmers.
