With 60% arable land, a population set to double to about 2.5bn people by 2050, Africa has a tremendous opportunity to eliminate hunger and feed her people and the world, to narrow the food deficit on the continent, put more money in the pockets of small holder farmers, and improve socio-economic livelihoods of its people. At Agriyields, we avert risks in the agriculture value chain by using technology to bridge this gap. We do this by using remote sensing via IoT, Satellite, data analytics and a cloud platform to avail farmers across the continent with precise decision support information at the appropriate time in the growth cycle of plants to ensure bumper harvests. By making direct linkages to market, supported by evidence based yield forecasts, with access to electronic payments, we ensure post harvest losses are greatly minimized, while the farmer enjoys a tidy profit every season.
