The Animal Health Training and Consultancy Service (AHTCS) was founded in the year 2000 with a focus on providing service-oriented support to marginalized communities. This non-profit, non-governmental organization partners with both national and international entities to enhance the quality of life for these underserved groups. AHTCS is dedicated to improving aspects like animal health, husbandry, and equine welfare in its target communities. Additionally, it endeavors to expand its programs to address specific needs related to livestock-mediated program diversification, which includes activities aimed at enhancing livelihoods through agricultural practices. Over the course of its twenty-year existence, AHTCS has achieved the following milestones: At the onset of AHTCS, • Established as an independent entity separate from Rural Development Centre/United Mission to Nepal and affiliation with Social Welfare Council (SWC) and collaboration was done with Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). • Workshop on Village Animal Health Worker (VAHW) curriculum in partnership with line agencies. • Expansion of linkages with development cooperation partners for program diversification and larger area reached. • Formulated institutional policies, strategies and regulations including marketing plan and its implementation. • Production and publication of various institutional materials; drafted VAHW book and delivered training programs and skill assessment. Vision: AHTCS envisions self-reliant, healthy and resilient Nepalese farming communities. Mission: Improved quality of life of poor, marginalized and needy communities through smart farming practices, promoting animal health and welfare, and providing practical education and services in collaboration with communities, government and other development partners.
