Ahti is not an acronym but refers to the even two characters in the Finnish mythology: Ahto [ˈɑhto] is a Finnish sea god. Ahti is the more common name for Ahto. Aht is the king or god of the sea, and Ahtola is his sea-castle. His wife is Wellamo, and they live together at the bottom of the sea. The Sampo (a magical device that brings fortune to its holder) comes into his possession and he is unwilling to return it. Ahti (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈɑhti]) is a heroic character in folk poetry who is sometimes given the epithet Saarelainen (pronounced [ˈsɑːrelɑi̯nen], "Islander"). Ahti Saarelainen is described as a fierce seagoing warrior.
