AIAA University of Sydney Student Branch

The AIAA University of Sydney Student Branch (USSB) was the first AIAA student branch in Australia. Our activities aim to increase knowledge of aeronautics and astronautics and to foster interaction with professionals in the industry. We aim to increase awareness and interest in aeronautics and astronautics to both students and the general public. Our membership is open to all students with an interest in the field, not just aeronautical engineers. We run a number of events to achieve these goals. We organise presentations from both industry and university, informing members of the current goings on in the aeronautical and space fields, and enabling contacts to be made with professionals. These presentations are open to all to attend; general students, interested members of the public, and other professionals. In addition, AIAA USSB runs an annual student-industry networking night with key players in the Australian aerospace industry. The AIAA USSB also runs tours for student members, visiting relevant institutions, and providing unique first hand exposure to aeronautical and space concepts and hardware. These tours enable students to see the practical applications of studies as well as providing inspiration for further study in the field.
