AIDDIA (pronounced “idea”) stands for Artificial Intelligence Driven Digital Art. Aiddia is a process by which a photograph, 3D model, or other visual subject matter can be modified through machine learning or other digital means by applying one or more existing artistic styles to create, in effect, new art. Usually, the results are pretty bad. Imagine mushing Beethoven’s Fifth with your favorite Beatles song (or, say, bacon ice cream) and you’ll get an idea why life’s best things swirled together in a big digital pot often doesn’t result in a pleasing effect. While Aiddia is a prolific muse, she requires significant curation and constant editing. Behind every piece of art created by Aiddia is a human being making constant subjective decisions as to what constitutes good art versus bad art. Of course good art, like personal taste, is very much in the eye of the beholder (perhaps why bacon ice cream is in fact an actual thing). That’s kind of the point… or as we call it, The Big Aiddia (get it?).
