We are based in Nelson, New Zealand and import & retail electric bikes. Our first shipment came in March 2009 and the bikes are still going strong. The lithium-ion batteries are 36 volts and are good for 1,000 cycles or recharges. The 250 watt electric motor is situated in the hub of the rear wheel. The bikes have 7 speed Shimano gears - very useful for the hill climbs. The bike can be ridden without pedalling on the flat but still needs some pedalling up hills. Probably about 2-3 times easier than without the motor and allows you to ride up hills you would never attempt on a regular push bike.
