Akelius Foundation is a charity foundation.
Roger Akelius founded the Akelius Foundation in 2007.
Thanks to a donation from Roger Akelius,
the Akelius Foundation is the ultimate owner of real estate company Akelius Residential Property AB,
with 84 percent of the shares.
The Akelius Foundation donates to
- children in need
- refugees and other people suffering from government actions, or in need of medical care
- contribution for development of education
Between 2010 and 2022, Akelius Foundation donated EUR 135 million to
- UNICEF
- SOS Children’s Villages
- Doctors Without Borders
- UNHCR
Additionally, Akelius Foundation has long-term commitments to five projects with SOS Children Villages and UNICEF.
Those projects run typically 25 years.
The donation for each project is SEK 100 million,
SEK 500 million in total.
In December 2022, the Foundation is still committed to paying the remaining
SEK 293 million in the coming years.
In March 2022, Akelius Foundation together with UNICEF and UNHCR organized a donation campaign for Ukraine.
In this campaign Akelius Foundation donated EUR 52 million and Hugo Research Foundation donated EUR 15 million.
Total donation for this campaign was EUR 67 million.
