Akha Ma-De is a UN Women award-winning social enterprise that empowers Akha women through creativity. We leverage Akha hill tribe culture and craftmanship to create unique gifts and experiences. We were honored as the winner of the Women Empowerment Principles Award 2024, organized by UN Women, in the SME Champion category. OUR PRODUCTS MADE WITH COTTON: 1 – Exclusive Phuang Malai 2 – Thai-Themed Souvenirs 3 - Thai-Themed Christmas Ornaments 4 - Commissioned Artworks A CRAFT FACTORY IN 2025 We are about to build a Christmas factory, allowing us to grow our impact by expanding our team from 8 to 14 women and inviting you to experience our 'Cultural Lodges.' It’s a new way to explore culture—centered around the community rather than traditional customer service. The Factory will include: • A workshop • A traditional restaurant • One or two Cultural Lodges • Nightly storytelling sessions • A library and children's game corner • A popcorn corner! • The most beautiful Christmas tree in Chiang Rai! OUR VISION Akha Ma-De aims to become a hub for preserving Akha culture with: • A department documenting Akha culture (recipes, family books, storybooks…) • A fund to support Akha children in pursuing higher education • The translations of classic stories into the Akha language • An incubator program for hilltribe entrepreneurs • A line of culturally-inspired fashion clothing • English and Akha language classes • An annual hilltribe festival •The sale of Akha artworks
