AKTO is a Virtual Centre of Frugal Innovation Design involving international leading universities, we are proud to be at the forefront of shaping the future through groundbreaking research and collaborative efforts in key thematic areas – "Frugal Innovation Design," "Body Trauma Treatment," "Climate-Related-Change," "Emerging Technology," and "Hospital Admissions." The specific design challenge for the Frugal Innovation Design project is to address violence and trauma in developing worlds resulting from climate-related change and limited hospital admissions. The challenge involves creating innovative, cost-effective, and accessible solutions that can effectively mitigate the impact of climate-related violence and trauma in resource-constrained settings. The project aims to develop frugal design prototypes and solutions across five key thematic areas: Climate Change: Addressing the challenges arising from rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and resource scarcity that exacerbate conflicts and incidents of body trauma and violence in developing worlds. Hospital Admissions: Developing solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce hospital admission times in resource-constrained settings, where limited resources pose a significant challenge and risk to life. Frugal Lean Manufacture: Creating lean manufacturing processes specifically tailored for frugal innovation, focusing on preventative, corrective, and predictive principles. Medical Trauma to the Body: Designing frugal solutions to address medical trauma in areas with limited access to traditional medical interventions, with a specific emphasis on reducing response times. Machine Learning/Emerging Technologies Developments: Exploring the integration of machine learning and emerging technologies into frugal design solutions to enhance adaptability and effectiveness. The project seeks to bring together interdisciplinary teams to collaboratively tackle these challenges and contribute to well-being of populations.
