Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic-Certificate Programs

We hereby announce ongoing admissions into our new Professional Certificate and Advanced Professional Certificate programs that last a maximum of two academic semesters. The part time programs that run on weekends are: 1. SECURITY/SAFETY OPERATIONS’ MANAGEMENT 2. PARLIAMENTARY/DEMOCRATIC STUDIES The minimum entry requirements for the programs are as follows: Professional Certificate entry requirement: • Holders of NABTEB, NECO, WAEC, SSCE/GCE (O’Levels) with three credits passes or pass in five papers (English Language compulsory) or its equivalent, Grade II Teachers Certificate, Practicing and in-service training Course Certificates issued by Military and/or Paramilitary Training School. One year’s cognate work experience can also be considered and authenticated by an employer. • MATURE CANDIDATES: One year cognate working experience and possess minimum of 3 credit passes (at least a pass in English) in NABTEB, NECO, WAEC, SSCE/GCE (O’Levels) or its equivalent. Advanced Professional Certificate entry requirement: • Holders of University Degree, HND and relevant Professional qualifications in any discipline. • Holders of OND, NCE or Diploma in any discipline or its equivalent. • MATURE CANDIDATES: One (1) year Cognate Working Experience and possess minimum of 3 credits and at least a pass in English in NABTEB, NECO, WAEC, SSCE/GCE (O’Levels), or its equivalent. Whichever program you choose to enroll, it will give the beneficiary an edge over others in the labor market, as our programs are aimed at making individuals function as professionals in their chosen career and be self-reliant. For instance, being trained as a Professional Security Operative positions an individual ready for the formation of State Police or working in any Security Agency in the country; similarly being trained in Parliamentary/Democratic Studies gives an individual the professional acumen to work in the Local Government, State or Federal Legislature.
