About Al Jord Lab
The Mechanics of Organelle Remodeling Laboratory is located within the Centre for Genomic Regulation at the PRBB on the coast line of Barcelona, Spain. Our Lab’s general mission is to understand how mechanical forces impact nuclear genetic messages in health, aging, and disease. In particular, our group’s interdisciplinary research aims to decipher how cytoskeletal forces impact nuclear dynamics across scales, with a focus on the mechano-regulation of nuclear biomolecular condensates & RNA processing. To attain this aim, our research follows a cross-disciplinary approach, bridging methods from systems, cell, molecular, and synthetic biology along with computational and biophysical tools. This comprises techniques like protein multiplexing, advanced live and super-resolution imaging, optogenetics, spatial transcriptomics, biomimetic systems, and force measurement and modulation assays.
