Al Share' Media is an international media organisation that focuses on defending human rights and public space in the Middle East. Al Share', which is the Arabic word for "the street", began in Syria in 2010 as a collective of journalists, photo-journalists, artists, designers and filmmakers working at the intersection of creative expression, human rights, and civic participation. It took both its name and its ethos from the conviction that the workshop of culture was not the library or studio but the street, the common public space of everyday life.
