Albany Barn, Inc. has partnered with the Albany Housing Authority to redevelop St. Joseph's Academy, an abandoned school building located in the City of Albany's imperiled Arbor Hill neighborhood into 22 low-cost live/work artist residences, and 13,000+ square feet of multi-tenant creative arts incubator, enterprise and program space called “The Barn.”
The Barn features a 148 seat performance venue, fully equipped musicians' rehearsal room, a community crafters' studio, and ample meeting and event space. The Barn is also home to a full service recording studio, multimedia production studio, and a number of photography, design, and fine arts start-ups.
Stage 1 Gallery, a 1,700 sq. foot store front exhibition and programming space located on N. Swan Street hosts youth programming, fitness classes, small events and performances, and monthly visual art exhibitions.
