ALCASE Italia (Alliance for the Lung Cancer Advocacy, Support and Education, www.alcase.it) è la prima associazione italiana dedita: 1.) alla causa e al sostegno dei malati di cancro del polmone, 2.) all’educazione sanitaria, e 3.) alla prevenzione della malattia.
È stata fondata a Cuneo, il 20 ottobre1998, sull’esempio dell’ALCASE statunitense (oggi Lung Cancer Alliance, www.alcase.org), come emanazione sociale e culturale del gruppo di studio e ricerca CuLCaSG (oggi ALCARE Cuneo: Alliance for the Lung CAncer Research and Education - Cuneo, www.alcare.it).
Oltre a una ricca Newsletter mensile, ALCASE ha al suo attivo diverse pubblicazioni: “Con ogni respiro”, traduzione dall’inglese della guida al cancro del polmone del’americana Tina St. John; “Il manuale del cancro del polmone” (entrambi scaricabili in formato PDF dalla pagina http://www.alcase.it/education/education.htm); “Un libricino che a sfogliarlo si respira… ARIA PULITA” e “Non è mai troppo tardi …” (entrambi acquistabili on line da sito www.lulu.com); “Vincere il big Killer”, antologia di testimonianze delle persone guarite dal cancro del polmone (Graus Editore, Napoli).
Insieme alla controparte americana, è membro fondatore della Global Lung Cancer Coalition (www.lungcancercoalition.org), cui aderiscono le organizzazioni di lotta al cancro del polmone più importanti al mondo.
