Our experts have specialized expertise with bored and mined (drill & blast) tunneling (including large diameter TBM tunnels); New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) for soft ground and hard rock; trenchless technology (microtunneling, horizontal directional drilling, pilot tube microtunneling, & horizontal auger boring); trenchless rehabilitation; shaft design; support of excavation; tunnel rehabilitation, concrete and steel segment design ground improvement; geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; foundation design; structural design; risk management and contract document preparation.
Our risk management practice is the US industry leader. We have participated in key roles on some of the largest infrastructure programs in the nation, including the following just in the state of California: LA Metro, BART extension to San Jose, CA High Speed Rail, and the California Water Fix. Bob Goodfellow who heads our risk practice was a co-author of the US tunnel industry Guidelines for Improved Risk Management.
