AlgoEdge is a proprietary algorithmic trading startup/hedge fund predicated on sustainable yet outstanding historical performance over extended periods of time and through various crises with long holding periods. AlgoEdge is based out of Atlanta, GA with <10 employees, and is currently funded privately.
So far, we've written a preliminary back-testing application in Python, validated it on Quantopian's back-testing platform, and are currently in the process of paper trading before we go live in 2017. The algorithm has been used historically for a small select group of investors and is just now being established as a fund.
In our most conservative S&P 500 only portfolio trading at end of day closing prices, our returns have averaged 12.3% annually, excluding all dividends, (back-tested from 2002 to 2015) with a lower than market Beta and an average holding period of significantly more than one year (long-term capital gains). We've outperformed the market on paper by numerous metrics, and we hope to eliminate any and all potential biases commonly encountered and misinterpreted by algorithmic traders (survivorship bias, slippage, transaction costs, etc). and launch our trading algorithm and philosophy in the next six months.
