I studied Fine Art at The Ruskin, Oxford University where I predominately made paintings before taking up a number of artist-in-residency posts in which my work developed into performance, installation-based sculpture and video. I continue to make art every day. In 2001, I co-founded Robinson van Noort, an architectural and interior design practice, heading up the interior architecture and the design of bespoke joinery. My furniture collection naturally evolved from this practice.
My work tries to combine a feeling of simple elegance with surprise and playfulness. They always begin as a one-off client commission and from there they are then refined by my team to enter the collection. It is very important to me that the design and making process is collaborative and fun and I’m particulate proud of and feel very lucky to work with some extremely gifted London-based makers. And it is this teamwork that delivers special pieces to private clients, architects and interiors designers.
