'Alif: Traditional Wisdom in Review

Founded in 2019, 'Alif is a digital media collective dedicated to publishing philosophically-engaged content which brings together perspectives from both classical Islamic sources and the Western intellectual tradition. Our hope is to go beyond a model of mere dialogue and develop an approach focused on synthesis, the discovery of new relations, and the creation of points of integration. Western academia and culture has long tried to distance itself from the intellectual activity of the Islamic world, but as the trend of pluralism continues in Western lands, Muslim engagement with Western thought will continue to deepen. Through publishing the cutting-edge of this engagement, we hope to contribute positively to this trend and make these developments accessible to Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
