It is an incontrovertible fact that Green Hydrogen could be a panacea for the decarbonization of many industries. With steel production contributing 7-9% of global CO₂ emissions (2.6 Gt annually), chemical manufacturing 5.8% (ammonia alone generating 500 Mt CO₂), and oil & gas operations 15% (5.1 Gt CO₂), green hydrogen offers transformative potential for these hard-to-electrify sectors. Using 55kgs of H2 for 1MT of Steel can reduce 95% of the CO2 emissions involved. However, traditional electrolysis faces significant barriers: limited round-cycle efficiency (65%), high energy consumption (55-60 kWh per kg H₂), cost parity requiring production below $50 kWh/kg, balance of plant comprising 55% of electrolyzer costs, ultrapure water accounting for 22% of expenses, and dependence on expensive platinum group and rare earth metals. Alphios addresses these challenges through five key innovations: (1) novel cell design using earth-abundant materials and recyclable catalysts, (2) mature foundation built on TRL 9 scalable, modular and stackable alkaline electrolysis technology (3) resource efficiency utilizing wastewater instead of ultrapure water to eliminate 22% of operational costs, (4) integrated carbon capture with in-situ CO₂ conversion to Syngas using pyrolysis and H+ mediation from the electrolysis system further converting into valuable electro-fuels accessing a $300 billion market, and (5) Our CAPEX is $560/KW as opposed to global CAPEX of $2780 and pyrolysis of CO2 with our catalyst is achieved under 700*C. This integrated approach delivers remarkable advantages: 70% cost reduction for green hydrogen, 75% greater throughput, and 79% lower CAPEX and can help achieve USD1/KG of Green H2.
