ALPS is a spinout from the University of Cambridge. It has been incubated in the Innovation and IP Management (IIPM) laboratory (www.iipm.eng.cam.ac.uk) at the Department of Engineering.
At ALPS we believe that current technology licensing isn’t fit for purpose. It is slow, inefficient and relies too heavily on human inspections and audits. As the world moves to a digital industry/economy 4.0 technology licensing needs to change. ALPS makes this happen and opens the door to future licensing scenarios more suited to a connected world.
ALPS is a digital Web 3.0 solution for technology licensing of connected electronic devices. Operating as a decentralised platform, ALPS improves accuracy, increases efficiency and reduces costs of managing technology licenses by doing away with the manual aspects, most notably manual audits. Further, and most notably, ALPS has the ability to provide real-time usage data for licensors enabling novel licensing models, such as allowing for sophisticated pay-as-you-use licenses, and enabling permitting payments for feature-on-demand.
