ALSO (Approved Low Sodium Option) is a non for profit Health and Wellness initiative dedicated to empowering consumers to pursue, and the Food Industry to provide, low sodium options, primarily for consumer health and also to comply with Federally-regulated health advisory. In general, eating healthy, low sodium and organic foods is either inconvenient, or inaccessible to many consumer populations. ALSO is calling for producers/manufacturers of processed, packaged, and pre-prepared foods known to be higher in sodium content to start providing lower sodium product options. Products that achieve recommended sodium reduction requirements will display the ALSO logo on their packaging, thus making lower sodium products easily identifiable by us, the consumers.
