ALU TreeGiveBack Project

The ALU TreeGiveBack Project is a sustainability initiative proudly driven by the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at African Leadership University Rwanda. As part of the scholars' commitment to giving back to communities and the environment, this project embodies the core values of leadership, service, and sustainability that underpin the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. This initiative focuses on environmental restoration and community engagement by planting trees in partnership with local stakeholders, environmental experts, and community leaders. The project aims to address deforestation, promote biodiversity, and support sustainable ecosystems in various regions of Rwanda, starting with Gasabo District. Beyond environmental benefits, the tree planting also seeks to create economic and social value for the local communities through the planting of fruit-bearing and native trees. The TreeGiveBack Project is managed and executed by a dedicated team of Mastercard Foundation Scholars, reflecting their commitment to ethical leadership and positive change. Through activities such as sourcing tree seedlings, identifying planting sites, and mobilizing volunteers, the project aspires to foster a greener future and inspire a culture of environmental responsibility among the youth and the wider community. 🌱
