AMAIS creates contexts of interaction between people with disabilities and able-bodied ones. We do this by offering designing and consultancy services based on universal design principles and by organizing inclusive events for/with people with disabilities and professionals in areas with direct impact on mobility and personal independence. In Romania, people with disabilities experience a constant phenomenon of isolation. This is due to subjective causes, such as other people’s attitudes towards them and objective reasons, due to an inaccessible and unfriendly built environment. Our NGO aims to increase empathy and awareness towards vulnerable groups by using the built environment and technology as our main resources. Our team is composed of architects, psychologists, programmers, copywriters and we collaborate with sociologists, educators, artists and other socially aware entities. We are open to creating new relationships in any field of work and we think that a multidisciplinary approach is the key to having a real impact.
