About Amanda for Texas 2020
Amanda Edwards is a native Texan, a millennial, and a Houston City Council member serving 2.3 million constituents. Amanda is an accomplished attorney and a fierce community advocate. Amanda is the transformative results-oriented leader Texans deserve. Amanda’s father was diagnosed with cancer when she was a child. By witnessing his battle with cancer (and now her mother’s), Amanda knows first-hand that access to health care is more than just a political issue: for so many Americans, it is a matter of life or death that impacts families. As a U.S. Senator, she will work tirelessly to expand access to quality, affordable healthcare coverage for all Texans. Amanda graduated from Eisenhower High School in Aldine ISD. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from Emory University in 2004 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2007. Amanda resides in the core of Houston and attends St. Monica Catholic Church in Acres Homes.
