Our mission is to transform organic waste from economic activities located in the Legal Amazon into fertilizers and soil conditioners based on biochar. AMAZON BIOFERT aims to contribute to the preservation of the planet and promote sustainable food production with a focus on carbon sequestration in the soil.
Biochar is the best soil conditioner ever discovered. Produced from carbonized biomass, it can permanently change the physicochemical characteristics of the soil. This feature significantly reduces the need for fertilizer applications, as biochar increases the retention of chemical elements, acting like a magnet for nutrients.
The idea of transforming açaí seeds into biochar is an excellent way to reduce the volume of waste from açaí processing. Moreover, biochar sequesters carbon in the soil for long periods, preventing its release into the atmosphere and thus mitigating the greenhouse effect.
